Since then, Nile Cosmetics has managed to secure three more exclusive manufacturing contracts. Two more product lines were secured from Pearl Industries (UK); these being the Baby Soft® and Julie® lines. This progression has allowed NCUL to enter the petroleum jelly and pomade markets. The third exclusive manufacturing license was secured from Hoyu (Japan) under which NCUL would begin manufacturing Bigen® hair dye.
Keeping to this strong heritage of quality, NCUL looks to move forward by becoming a local manufacturer providing the Ugandan people with world class standards. There is no doubt that our ultimate aim is to make money, but through the representation of world class products, we believe that we are here to provide the Ugandan people with quality products which they desire.
Manufacturing in Uganda has required a harmonisation between the stringent regulations set forth by the licensing companies and the standards set forth by UNBS. All packaging materials required approval by our licensing companies. NCUL therefore used their templates and assimilated the requirements set forth by the UNBS to become a fully compliant local manufacturer.
Both licensing companies encourage internal sourcing where feasible - based on costs and development of the local economy. In view of this, most plastic packaging used by NCUL is sourced through Rwenzori Beverage Co. Ltd. whereas the printed material comes from Graphic Systems (U) Ltd.
As stated earlier, its was a prerequisite for both licensing companies that the packaging producers maintain the necessary standards. NCUL was directed to approach companies that excelled in their respective fields. This meant that the aforementioned companies should provide swift and consistent service, with a high level of flexibility.
NCUL wishes to thank the UNBS for their initiatives in maintaining strict standards for the betterment of the Ugandan people. We also wish to thank Graphic Systems (U) Ltd. and Rwenzori Beverage Co. Ltd.
